A new gaming network will be opening in

Dubai, UAE in the middle of May 2010. The network cafe will be called eSCAPE Gaming Network and will be located in the Al Barsha area, near Mall of the Emirates.

A Counter-Strike 1.6 tournament will be held on the 2nd week of the cafe's opening with a AED 10,000 prize pool. 1st place winner will receive AED 8,000 and 2nd place winner will receive AED 2,000.

Tournaments for Defense of the Ancients and Pro-Evolution Soccer will also follow this year.

eSCAPE Gaming Network will also be sponsoring

Team Impulse, the best CS 1.6 team in UAE at the moment. Consequently they will change their team name to 'eSCAPE'. Cafe & team manager will be xpac.

gay prize distribution. i mean 8k out of 10k for 1st place is already gay on it's own, and on top of that they're sponsoring Impulse who are most likely to win it, and that's really gay.

what a bunch of gays.

well badben25 I am the owner of the network so tell me how the prizes should be distrubuted coz I think 8k is fair for 1st place as I am very confidant that many teams will show up..

when you have a good amount of money, you're pretty much throwing it away with that sort of distribution. 8k is TOO fair for 1st place, and too unfair for all the others. do this:

1st place - AED 4500
2nd place - AED 3000
3rd place - AED 1500
4th place - AED 500

do that along with a double elimination tree for the tournament and you'll have the kind of tournament that's needed here. this is a good and very balanced distribution, and teams on a lower tier also get something for trying hard plus some sort of motivation. it also saves you Dh500 lol. and agree with it or not, but double elimination plays a positive role in the competitive atmosphere in tournaments. it's tried and proven.
also, think about this, don't you yourself feel that 80% of the prize pot for first place and the remaining 20% for second is retarded?
enough of these lame tournaments, there's been a lot of big talk about doing this and that about the scene but nothing at all ever happens. we all need to do something right and actually do it for the scene for once.

many teams will show up? apart from the few prime teams, the usual bunch of mixes that are present each time will be present again. and they all show up cuz there's nothing else going on. if there was a good amount of events going on, teams could skip one and go for some other, but when you have so few events then everyone has to go for all of them. one of the problems with our scene is that there are no real number of proper fixed teams, players don't get together and make real teams and then play hard together and try to go far. what happens is either the new teams keep changing players, or are born and die in a month or so, or everyone just plays as a mix team. the scene needs to be worked in such a way that it's pumped with life and competition with everyone wanting to achieve.
new and better LAN centers is not what is needed, but rather some passion and thinking, among other things.

i also want you to clear some things Xpac:

# does this tourney have entrance fees?
# what does eSCAPE sponsoring Impulse mean? what does this actually do? what i can think of is this: a change in team name, free entry in this tournament, maybe they also get free hours. if this is going far, then maybe you get a percentage of the prize money they win at tournaments (which is a nice source of income lol), and maybe they wear some official t-shirts. what are the actual terms of this sponsorship?

I think having xpac as the team manager is pretty gay, having his name hyperlinked on this thread makes it even more gay

where in the world is eSCAPE in this picture? HYPERLINKER MAN? HA?

I almost mistook it with Deir el-Bersha in Egypt, according to wikipedia.

Well badben25 exactly what you mentioned is what I'm going to do with my sponsored team whatever you mentioned as well is what I'm going to be doing I can guarntee you this that my network will be changing the whole gaming scene in this country I can promise u that. i think it's great but U are forgetting us in al ain as U said iM bset team well U have team warrior.aa heroes.aa Elites well i think that the prize money for :
1st-5000AED+30hrs free
2nd-3000AED+20hrs free
3rd-2000AED+10hr free
this is how it should be
the money should go to the top 3 nt top 5 or top 4
