ESL QUAKELIVE MIDDLE EAST FUN CUP FEBRUARY

ESL|SaSa has kindly agreed to start some online cups for QuakeLive for the Middle East Region. Tentative date for the start of the first online cup is middle of February. Fixed dates and other info will be posted here as soon as we receive them. CS 1.6 Fun cups may also be possible soon.

General idea of a fun cup:
In a fun cup, teams/participants solely play in the tournament to gauge their skill levels vs. each other, win some fame and top seed spots for use in official tournaments in the future. Fun cups usually last 1 whole day or just 1 night. Tournament format is most likely single-elimination, best of 3 maps format.

I can understand there will be time Restraints (1 day tourney), but IMO Double elimination with BO1 will be a better alternative then Single Elimination with BO3 because it gives most of us chance to replay if we lose to you in 1st match(spammah). What do you think?

Yeah I understand the skill gap between me and the other QL players. Which is why I won't participate for most of the fun cups. But I hope you get the idea behind the fun cups. It keeps the community active, motivated and possibly draw in more players.

The Fun cups would be most interesting for CS 1.6 as this could revive the stagnant CS 1.6 scene in the Middle East and motivate players to form potentially serious teams for online/LAN.

no no double elimination with BO1 for Quake is also gay. the best way to go is double elimination and BO3.

Guys beware of Xothermek - This guy is gifted when it comes to FPS. We RTS veterans are going rock everyone in the Fun Tounries, and that is my promise.

On a sidenote: I still vote for BO1 Double Elimination, with finals being BO3
